Accessibility Statement
Last updated: August 5, 2026
Appleby Retreats is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology like screen readers, rely on keyboard navigation, or need larger text or higher contrast.
Practices we've built in and checked for:
- - Semantic heading structure and landmark regions on every page
- - A visible “skip to content” link for keyboard users
- - Full keyboard support throughout the site, including arrow-key navigation and Escape to close the photo gallery
- - Visible focus states on every interactive element
- - Descriptive alt text on photography
- - Readable color contrast
- - A responsive layout that adapts to phones, tablets, and desktops
- - Support for browser and device zoom/text resizing
- - Respect for your device's reduced-motion setting
Our goal is to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the site. This is an ongoing goal we actively work toward, not a certification. We don't claim the site is fully accessible or fully conformant.
Part of this site embeds Hospitable's own booking widget and OpenStreetMap's map tiles. These are third-party tools outside our direct control, and their accessibility may not always match the standard we hold the rest of the site to.
Report an accessibility issue
If you run into an accessibility difficulty anywhere on this site, please let us know at stay@applebyretreats.com. It helps if you can describe the page you were on and what problem you ran into. We'll do our best to look into it.
