Privacy Policy

Information you may provide directly

If you email us at stay@applebyretreats.com, we receive whatever you include in that message: typically your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to you.

This website does not currently have its own contact form, newsletter signup, or account-creation flow for visitors. The owner dashboard referenced elsewhere on this site is a private, password-protected tool for the property owners only. It is not something visitors or guests sign up for or use.

Booking information: handled by Hospitable, not by us

Each property page embeds a booking calendar from Hospitable, a third-party booking platform. When you select dates, enter guest details, complete identity verification, or submit a booking request, that information is entered directly into Hospitable's widget and sent to Hospitable. It does not pass through our website's own servers, and we do not store it in our own systems. We only see whatever a reservation record shows once Hospitable makes it available to us as the property owner (for example, in our owner dashboard), such as guest name, dates, and reservation status.

Payment details are handled entirely by Hospitable. We do not collect, see, or store payment card information.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information for every request, such as IP address, browser/device type, the page requested, and the time of the request. This is used for operating and securing the site (for example, detecting abuse) and is not used to build an individual profile of you.

This site does not currently use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any other third-party analytics or tracking service. If that changes, we will update this policy.

Cookies and local storage

This website itself does not set marketing or analytics cookies. The private owner dashboard uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep the property owners signed in securely. These are not set for ordinary visitors browsing the public site.

The embedded Hospitable booking widget and the embedded property map (which loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap) run inside your browser from their own third-party domains and may set their own cookies or use their own local storage under their own privacy policies, outside our visibility or control.

How we use information

• To operate, maintain, and secure this website.
• To respond to emails and requests you send us directly.
• To manage reservations made through Hospitable, as the property owner.
• To comply with applicable law.

When information may be shared

We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the site and manage bookings: principally Hospitable (booking, guest communication, and payment processing) and our website hosting provider, Cloudflare. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Appleby Retreats, our guests, or others.

Data retention

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy (such as responding to your message, or maintaining reservation records as the property owner) or as required by applicable law. We do not currently apply a single fixed retention period across all information, since the appropriate length varies by type.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information, including serving this site over HTTPS and keeping the owner dashboard password-protected. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at stay@applebyretreats.com and we will remove it.

Your choices and rights

You can choose not to provide information directly to us (for example, by not emailing us). For information you enter into Hospitable's booking widget, your choices and rights (including any right to access, correct, or delete your information) are governed by Hospitable's own privacy policy and practices.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information under applicable law. Except where otherwise required by applicable law, you can exercise any rights you have regarding information we hold directly by contacting us at stay@applebyretreats.com.

Third-party services and links

This site links to and embeds:

• Hospitable: booking, guest communication, and payment processing.
• OpenStreetMap: map tiles shown on each property page.
• Cloudflare: website hosting.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these or any other third-party sites we link to, including Airbnb.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. We'll update the “Last updated” date above when we do.
